What age group does my child fall into?

The age your son turns between Jan1 through to Dec31 is the age group he plays under. As an example, if your son is turning 10 between Jan1 and Dec31 he will play Under 10.

Its my first night at practice what do I need to do?

Chat to either the Vices or Club Captain to introduce you to your son’s coach or if you prefer contact the coach directly, details can be found on the Contact Us page. Please visit the club house and chat to the ladies to have your questions addressed. Additionally ensure that you have followed through the Register section above and have completed all relevant required documentation. Please print the Boksmart Preparticipation Screening Questionnaire and after completion hand it to your coach. This can be found on the Register page.

Can we pay cash or EFT?

Both are acceptable, although EFT is preferred. Please note, season fees are to be payed before kit is issued. Additionally take note that under no circumstances are coaches to be paid directly for kit or registration, acceptance of payment is handled by the ladies in the Club House only.

Game schedules and correspondence?

Please note that all correspondence is mailed. Please ensure that your email address is added by sending a mail to info@waspsrugbyclub.co.za
Games Schedules in season (July through to September) are typically completed on Wednesday before the event, however it can sometimes be extended to Thursday. All matches are typically played on a Saturday and rarely on a Friday evening.

How long is the season?

Training for the season starts in March. Typically a number of friendlies are played between May and July before the official Golden Lions Rugby Union (GLRU) season kicks off which is typically Mid July through to the end of September.

How do we volunteer to help?

As we are a club we are always in need of help especially when we are set to host. Please chat to the ladies inside the Club House for more information.

Can I get involved with coaching?

Yes please, we certainly encourage parents to coach, however please understand that coaching is a big ask making commitment in terms of time a critical component.  The process however is regulated as you would need to attend both a Boksmart and IRB1 certification course. Boksmart technically allows you to step on to a field and is primarily a safety course and the IRB 1 course teaches coaching technique. Please chat to the Vices or Club Captain for additional details.

What time must we be there before our game starts?

At least 40 minutes prior to kick off.

I need to discuss payment options who do I speak to?

Please chat directly to your coach.

Where can I buy kit?

Kit is available from the club house.

My son is playing a match for his school at the same time he is due to play at the club what must I do?

Wasps Rugby Club is a development rugby club focused on developing rugby skills safely. School sports take priority. We do not wish to compete with the schools but instead focus on building the skills of players, which inevitably results in better players for the school.

I wish to sponsor the club, how do I go about doing so?

As all club funds are self raised, sponsorship is critical. We have a pre-defined list of requirements set out. Please chat to Chairpersons or Marketing Manager for additional details.
